Healthy eating

I’ve been using the Noom Coach app for about 3 1/2 -4 weeks now and I have to say that it is still the BEST fitness app that I have downloaded. My favorite feature is still the Noom Groups. Having other people to talk to within the app giving and receiving support and accountability has really helped me to stick with my fitness plan even when my plans for the day don’t go just exactly like I thought they would.

I discovered last week that I really like working out in the afternoons because it gives me a nice break from sitting doing work on the computer for hours at a time (blogger probs!) and it helps me get all the way through the afternoon without really having that UGH-lost-my-steam point.

My second favorite thing about the app is the food logging. Logging your food every day REALLY helps you to see exactly what or how much you are eating. Going over my calories has helped me to be much more conscious about what I am choosing to eat.

When you log your food, foods are graded by green, yellow, & red. Sometimes I don’t understand why certain foods are graded something other than green, avocados for example are a yellow food. I get that they are higher in fats than other veggies but they are loaded with GOOD fats and antioxidants. Steak is classified as a red food and while I know that lots of beef, especially certain cuts, are not that great for you I am a big meat eater, and truthfully I don’t eat steak too often anyway so that’s a “red” that I ignore. I love to add sunflower seeds to my salads, these are also classified as a red food. Sunflower seeds also contain GOOD fats and antioxidants.

I think that I’d like to find out why some foods are classified the way they are, because some of them seem to be contrary to the research I’ve done.

Weekly Weigh-In: 135lbs. I blame vacation food. :)
